Absorbent Pad
Our absorbent pad raw material used as the inner absorbent core in adhesive bandages, plasters, and island wound dressings. It is not a finished wound dressing, but a component designed for manufacturers who produce band-aids and medical dressings. The pad provides strong liquid absorption and softness to protect the wound while maintaining comfort.
We supply this absorbent pad for bandage and wound dressing manufacturing in jumbo rolls, slit rolls and pre-cut pads, with customized width, length and grammage (GSM).

What Is an Absorbent Pad Raw Material for Bandages?
In every adhesive bandage or island dressing, the visible product is only the outer part. The real performance comes from the inner absorbent core that sits directly on the wound. Our absorbent pad is exactly this inner core. It is supplied as a raw material that you laminate onto your adhesive backing and cover with a non-adherent wound contact layer or perforated film.
Compared with using loose gauze or cotton, a dedicated absorbent core pad for dressing production offers:
-
More uniform thickness and better converting performance
-
Predictable absorption capacity and retention
-
Clean cut edges with low linting and minimal fiber shedding
-
Easier quality control and traceability during mass production
For manufacturers, this means fewer complaints about “band-aids not absorbing enough” or “exudate leaking at the edges”, and a more reliable performance across different production batches.

Typical Applications
Because this product is a semi-finished absorbent core pad, its applications focus on manufacturing rather than direct clinical use:
Adhesive bandages / band-aids inner pad
Medical plaster absorbent pad
Island dressing absorbent core for post-surgical use (after further lamination and sterilization)
First-aid dressing kits as part of OEM assembly
Customized absorbent inserts for special dressing designs

Customization Service
We offer comprehensive customization options to match different dressing and bandage manufacturing requirements. Length, width, GSM, color and thickness can all be tailored according to your converting lines.
Our absorbent pad can be engineered to deliver very high absorption rates, achieving rapid, almost instantaneous uptake of exudate. At the same time, it provides extremely high total absorbency, allowing the pad to hold a large volume of fluid without collapsing or leaking, which makes it suitable for both small bandages and larger island dressings.

Special Customization Cases

Aloe-infused absorbent pad
The aloe-infused absorbent pad focuses on skin comfort rather than increased absorption, making it suitable for premium bandages, children’s plasters, and sensitive-skin applications.

Double-layer composite absorbent pad
The multi-layer composite absorbent pad is designed with a waterproof backing, separation layer, and high-absorbency core, supporting customized structures for different medical absorbent applications.

Medical blue PE net film for absorbent pads
Medical blue PE net film is designed as a functional separation layer in absorbent pads, helping maintain pad integrity and clear layer positioning during medical product manufacturing.

Silver Ion Absorbent Pad
The silver ion absorbent pad focuses on antibacterial performance rather than increased absorption, helping reduce bacterial growth and odor in medical absorbent applications.

Super Absorbent SAF Absorbent Pad
The SAF super absorbent pad is designed for high fluid uptake, expanding from 2 mm to 5 mm after absorption, and is suitable as an absorbent core layer in wound dressings and medical adhesive products.

Metal-Detectable Absorbent Pad with Aluminum Foil
The metal-detectable absorbent pad incorporates an aluminum foil layer to enable metal detection, making it suitable for medical wound dressings and adhesive products requiring enhanced safety control.

FAQ – About Absorbent Pad Raw Material vs Finished Wound Dressings
Q1: Is this absorbent pad a finished wound dressing?
No. This product is a raw material absorbent core designed to be used inside an adhesive bandage, plaster or island dressing. It is supplied to manufacturers, not to hospitals or pharmacies as a finished sterile wound dressing. You still need to laminate it with your own adhesive backing, non-adherent surface layer and then complete sterilization and final packaging.
Q2: Can we buy this pad and use it directly on patients?
We do not recommend using this pad directly on patients as a standalone product. It is intended for industrial dressing manufacturing, where you integrate it into your own validated design and sterilization process. For clinical use, your local regulations normally require a fully certified, packaged and sterilized dressing.
Q3: What sterilization methods is the absorbent pad compatible with?
The absorbent pad itself can generally withstand EO (ethylene oxide) sterilization and, depending on the structure, may also be compatible with gamma or steam sterilization. Because each dressing design and packaging system is different, we recommend that you validate the final product in your own process. We can provide basic material information to support your sterilization studies.
Q4: How do we choose the right GSM and thickness?
The choice depends on:
-
The size of your bandage or island dressing
-
The expected exudate level of the target wounds
-
Whether your dressing is primary or secondary
For small band-aids, a thinner, more flexible core is usually enough. For post-operative island dressings, a thicker absorbent pad or a higher-performance air-laid structure may be needed. Share your target application with us and we can recommend suitable absorbent core pad specifications and send evaluation samples.
